Ranieri Wants Silva and Cassano
Despite not completing any transfers in the January transfer window, rumours regarding Claudio Ranieri’s Juventus targets have not ceased to do the rounds.
Werder Bremen’s Diego has been labelled as a long-standing target of the Old Lady by many sections of the media, but Ranieri has openly admired both Valencia’s David Silva, and the “bad-boy of Italian Football” Antonio Cassano.
He said:”We’re a big club, with money available, but there is the money of the Arabs, the Russians, the Americans in recent years and some Italians.
“Signing a player today is more difficult, given the cost, but you need to spend on those who can give us a jump in quality.
“Cassano? He’s very good. David Silva? I knew him when he was a kid, I took the first team in Valencia: you could see then that he was a player.”
Juve could face some stiff competition for Cassano from their Serie A counterparts, with Inter Milan being linked with the striker in recent weeks. Silva, however, could be a player where money would be more valuable to Valencia than the player himself; the club have made no secret of their huge money troubles.
